Just as an aside. I do know of amissionary who was found guilty of adultery over a period of many years eventually found out and disfellowshipped. The congregation he returned to had to clear his reinstatement with New York, then it was 10 years before he was reappointed. The local body nearly had to offer up their children in sacrifice to get him appointed, then of course, they really really wished they hadn't. Tuned out to be the nastiest, most vicious elder you ever ran into.

Can a Re-Instated Person Ever Become An Elder?
by Englishman inwhen i was but a wee lad, re-instated persons were regarded with great suspicion pretty well for ever after.
i recall a lady i knew becoming engaged to someone who had been re-instated, my parents actually commiserated with her parents over this sad state of affairs.. back then, re-instated persons were barred from almost everything.
just student talks were allowed, but no praying and no ministerial privileges whatsoever.. then in the early 70's, the wt stated that it might be possible for re-instated persons to be given a ministerial position after a proving period of at least 10 years impeccable behaviour.

HS you could be right, but I've never seen any evidence of it. I do know of a couple of cases that I'm astonished the guys were appointed again if anyone looked at their records. Please give me the details behind your statement if you don't mind.

Evil slaving at District Conventions.
by avishai inanyone plan on clowning these fools at their conventions?
i don't necessarily mean shouting, holding placards, etc.
but i do mean putting evidence of their covering up child molesting around.

Dude your "consitutional right to free speech" only deals with government interference in your speech. You don't have a consitutional right to walk into any venue you choose and start spouting off.

Mankind's Search For God
by rocketman inmany of you no doubt remember when the society released the book mankind's search for god.
i had always figured that, since there were questions printed at the bottom of each page, the book would be studied at the congregation book study.
till this day, it has not been studied, and in fact, besides a couple of placement campaigns, not much was ever really done with that book.

I think they believe the book is a little too positive about other religions and raises too many uncomfortable questions.

That's not exactly correct. If three years haven't passed you have to write a letter of explananation and some times it goes through and sometimes it doesn't. If three years have passed then you don't have to write a letter and as far as I know, New York doesn't even know that judicial action has ever been taken against the individual. I don't believe they do any kind of records search on recommendations.

So this guy is guilty regardless of what the jury says? Why do we bother with trials, why not just execute on accusation since obviously anyone accused must be guilty.

You guys need to live in the real world. I know a PO that's an absolute Star Wars freak! There are a whole bunch of other elders that are into SF movies as well. Give me a break with the polemics.

Jehovah's Witnesses Feel Superior To Others. What About EX-JW's???
by minimus ineveryone knows the smugness that jw's have.
"everyone is going to die except us because we only have the truth.
" do you think that ex-witnesses continue this same smugness once they get out and realize what really is the truth?

Pork Chop
Yep. just like Witnesses loathing the world because they kill people, destroy families, wreak mental havoc, etc. etc. You make my case though I don't expect you to acknowledge it because you're just as blind about it as most Witnesses.
